In our factory shop in Morat, you will find the traditional Roland Zwiebacks and Crispbread but also the Roland Bretzeli as well as plenty of other interesting offers. Let us impress you with our large range!

Our factory shop is open as normal, but we will not be offering guided tours of the factory until further notice. Every possible measure is being taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Roland Bretzeli
At Roland, the first Bretzeli's were made in 1951 and from that day they have been a real classic. During the first years, Bretzeli's were handmade however this time has passed. For almost 50 years, our employees are helped by a machine - Europe's only one - that can knot pretzels itself. This way, the Roland Bretzeli's are still truly knotted. Here is the secret of their unique taste and appearance.
Raw material
The Roland Bretzeli production must go through several stages: Firstly, raw materials and packaging are approved. They are stocked in our warehouse until the production begins.rt.
Quality control
Then, the raw materials and packaging must go through quality control before being used for production. Our quality department workers take a sample out of the stock to examine it in our laboratory.
Raw materials sourcing
The different raw materials are then measured into the mixer. Although there is a computer managing all these stages, it is critical for our bakers to be present to check the quality of every product.
Pastry conditioning
The ingredients are then mixed to form a consistent pastry. Once the consistency of the pastry is good enough, the machine mixes and lays the pastry, which weighs approx. 60kg, in a funnel. This machine cuts the pastry into little bits, which later will be Roland Bretzeli's. These little bits are then transported to the Bretzeli production line.
Bretzeli knotting
The little bits of pastry are rolled to become little sticks. The machine "arms" take them and tie them to finally make Roland Bretzeli's. Little pretzels are then, very carefully, laid down on a conveyor belt. Our machine can tie 28'800 pretzels per hour!
Control
Our bakers must carefully check that the pastry does not stick to the machine. If it does, their mission is to resolve the problem as soon as possible so the production can continue.
Addition of Salt
It is only after the knotting that the Bretzeli's go through the brine. The brine gives the brownish colour to the pretzels. Bretzeli's continue on their way to be sprinkled with coarse salt.
Baking
After being salted, Bretzeli's are sent to the oven where they will stay for about 10 minutes, at a temperature of 295° C.
Control
At the end of the oven the Bretzeli's, still very hot, reach the packing robot. With the help of high-technology cameras, the system makes sure that every pretzel is knotted the way it should be.
Packing
Only perfect ones will be packed by a six-arm robot.
Packing robot
The Bretzeli's are automatically and delicately put in the plastic tray (90 Bretzeli per minute).
Sorting
Every tray is checked once again by our employees before being transported to the packaging machine.
Sealing
At this stage, packs are ready to be packed in a foil, before being sealed.
Cardboard
It is only when packs are totally finished that our workers put them in boxes which are then automatically closed and labelled.
Pallets
Filled boxes are put one by one on the pallet. The last stage of production is to cover pallets with a plastic film and label them to be transported.
To the shop
Roland Bretzeli's will then soon be on the shelves in your shops.

Tariffs: Adults CHF 10 .--
Children 6 - 16 years CHF 7 .--
School classes <16 years CHF 5.- per person
Each visitor receives a voucher for the amount paid, which entitles him to purchase products of the same value in the factory shop. The voucher is valid for one month, not cumulative. To cash in one piece, remaining amount not payable.
The total amount of the group must be paid in advance at the cash desk in the factory shop on the day of the visit.
The visit is for groups between 10 and 30 people.
For security reasons, we can unfortunately not accept children under 6. Children of 6 years old and above are welcome. However, each child must be accompanied by an adult.
So that we are ready to welcome you, please advise us of your visit at least 2 weeks in advance.

Please beware that during your visit, it is possible that some of our production lines might not work.

Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse groups who do not fulfil the conditions above.
